How to Break a Geode
How to Break a Geode
- Put on your safety goggles and gloves. Geode breaking can get a bit messy, and safety is key!
- Take your geode to a sturdy surface.
- Some geodes have a natural fissure line on the surface. This is a great place to break your geode.
- Holding the geode steady, place the chisel on the fissure line and gently tap it with the hammer. Start with light taps and gradually increase the force. Rotate the geode to ensure even pressure.
- Pay attention to the sound of the geode. A hollow sound often indicates that you’re close to breaking it open. Be patient; some geodes take a bit more effort.
- Once the geode cracks open, gently pull it apart and reveal the beautiful crystals!
